The Edison State women's basketball team defeated Lakeland Community College in overtime on the road Wednesday night 95-89.
The Lady Chargers trailed by 14 at halftime and by 6 with 25 seconds left but were able to rally. Shania Taylor (St. Marys HS) hit a 3-pointer and then after 2 missed free throws, Jessie Crowell (Covington HS) hit a tying 3-pointer with 7 seconds left to send the game into overtime. The Chargers then outscored Lakeland 14-8 in OT.
Jessie Crowell (Covington HS) finished with 23 points. Lauren Monnin (Versailles HS) scored 24 points and 11 rebounds. Riley Culver (Wapakoneta HS) scored 18, Kailani Broyles (Massillon Washington HS) had 12. Holly Frey (Ft. Loramie HS) finished a great game with 10 points and a career-high 19 rebounds.
The Chargers are now 23-5 overall and 8-5 in league play. They finish the regular season at 1 p.m. on Saturday at home against Cuyahoga Community College.
