After a break, the Chargers would return to a cold, rainy field on Friday to play game two of a doubleheader with St. Clair Community College. The Chargers would come out in game two cold and wet yet highly "Charged Up." The Chargers would bat .421 as a team and end the game after 4 1/2 innings 15-4 over St. Clair Community College to complete an opening day sweep.
Sophomore Anna Quinn (Tippecanoe HS), would open up her second year with the Chargers with a win in 4 innings pitched with 3 K, 2 BB, and 4 ER increasing her Charger career record on the mound to 6-1 in 14 appearances.
The Chargers would also get additional firepower from one of the day's stars Sophomore Alison Cox (Triad HS) who blasted 2 hits in 3 at-bats and 3 RBIs. (4-7 in both games with 7 RBIs).
Another freshman Jaycee Taylor (Hamilton HS) would only record one official AB but take full advantage of it knocking in two of her three, with a double one of four Chargers to double in the game. She would go 1-1 with 3 RBIs, SAC, drew one walk, and scored once herself.
Sophomore catcher Audrey Fyffe (Kenton Ridge HS) would hit two doubles in the game in four at-bats with 1RBI and 1R, bringing her career RBI total as a Charger to 56. Her behind-the-plate performance was stellar, par the course for the sophomore.
The defense was in the Chargers' repertoire in game two just like the first third-baseman Freshman Kaycie Albers (Minster HS) would snare a line drive and catch the lead runner on second leaning, with a short rundown Albers and Freshman Elise McCann completed the putout.
Freshman Graycee Cassidy (Xenia HS) would also contribute big, going 1-1 with 4 RBIs in her freshman debut. The Chargers would end this game early per the run rule with a 15-4 final after 4 1/2 innings played, improving to 2-0 to start their season.
The Lady Chargers softball team will be in action again on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at noon to take on St. Clair Community College for the third and final game of the weekend for them.
