The Edison State men's basketball team fell short on the road Saturday afternoon to Columbus State Community College 90-86.
The Chargers once again took the floor with great emotion taking an early lead and establishing a 12 point halftime advantage 49-37. Unfortunately, foul trouble plagued the Chargers early in the second half and the lead was quickly shortened as the Cougars began getting to the rim without much resistance.
"We seemed to be a step slow in the second half. We just didn't seem to have the legs we had in the first half," commented coach Hickman.
The final 10 minutes of play saw the lead change on numerous occasions, but in the end, it was the Chargers down 2 points and depending on a missed free throw attempt in order to have a final opportunity. The free throws were made and the Chargers fall 90-86 making them now 11-6 on the season.
Hadith Tiggs (Wayne HS) had 22 points and 7 rebounds. Christopher Landrum, II (Troy Christian HS) provided the Chargers with 20 points, 7 assists. Dusty Poteet (Troy Christian HS) added 16 points and 10 rebounds with a double-double for the game.
The Chargers will return home Wednesday, January 25th at 7:30 p.m. to take on Cincinnati State who currently lead the OCCAC undefeated in conference play.
