Chargers Defeat Miami University–Hamilton

The Chargers returned to their winning ways Friday night as they defeated Miami University–Hamilton at home 80-76 pushing their record to 7-4 on the season.

After trailing 40-41 at the half, the Chargers allowed their opponent to add a bucket to their lead. But then ran off 18 unanswered points to build an impressive 15 point advantage with 12:34 remaining in the contest and threatening to end things early. Unfortunately, the MUH Harriers turned up the pressure and took a 2-point lead at the 1:15 mark. Down the stretch, it was a breakaway bucket by Dae'Shawn Jackson, and a clutch jumper and 2 free throws by Christopher Landrum, II that sealed the deal for the Chargers.

Hadith Tiggs (Wayne HS) led in the scoring column with a career-high 20 points and 6 rebounds. Dae'Shawn Jackson (Springfield) had 18 points and 5 rebounds, Dusty Poteet (Troy Christian HS) had a huge season high 15 points and 9 boards. Christopher Landrum, II (Troy Christian HS) had a big night adding 13 points and 6 boards to give the Chargers a well-balanced attack.

The Chargers will compete at home again on January 11th hosting Clark State Community College at 7:30 p.m.

To show our appreciation, past and present servicemen and women are invited to attend the games free of charge. The Color Guard of the Piqua Civil Air Patrol Squadron under the command of Major Richard Borgerding from the Upper Valley Career Center will march during the national anthem prior to the women's game.
