Chargers Go 5-0 with a Win Over UC-Clermont
The Edison State men’s basketball team’s 86-81 win over a very tough UC-Clermont this evening gives the Chargers a 5–0 start out of the gate for the 2016-17 season.

Edison State had a 9-point lead at intermission and maintained that distance until about the 9-minute mark in the second half when UC-Clermont mounted an impressive inside/out game. UC-Clermont's 6'10" Adam Westbeld dominated the inside game scoring 23 points while 6'4" shooting guard Terry Sparks canned 4 treys and scored 34 points on the night.
The lead was cut to 2 points when the Chargers figured out a way to stop the bleeding and held the cougars to just 11 points in the final eight minutes of play.
"We really struggled most of the night trying to control their big. We, fortunately, had an answer down the stretch," Coach Hickman said.
Dae'Shawn Jackson of Springfield led in both the point and assist categories with 22 points and 6 assists, followed by DeAnthony Griffin of Linden McKinley with 16 and Hadith Tiggs of Huber Heights with 14 points for the evening. Dusty Poteet of West Milton led the Chargers in rebounds category with 8.
The Chargers will travel to Wright State University-Lake Campus this Saturday, December 3rd to take on the Lakers at 3:00 p.m.
