The Charger baseball team opened up their trip in Cocoa Beach, Florida on Monday, March 13th splitting a doubleheader with Kishwaukee CC.
The Charger baseball team opened up their trip in Cocoa Beach, Fla. on Monday, March 13th splitting a doubleheader with Kishwaukee CC.
Game two saw the Chargers storm back with a 10-0 run rule after 5. Edison State was led by starting pitcher Jorgé Datil. Datil worked all 5 innings allowing only 1 hit while striking out 6 to earn the shutout. At the plate, the Chargers were led by Samuel Nieves with a 3-run HR in the 3rd. Negron and Parsons added 2 hits a piece with Parsons adding a 1b, and 3b with two RBIs. The story of the game though was José Adorno entering the game as a defensive replacement and in his first collegiate at-bat, he hit a walk off 2 run HR on the first pitch he saw to end the game.
The Chargers will continue to compete in Cocoa Beach for spring training throughout the week.
