Five Chargers Earn OCCAC Post-Season Awards
Recently finishing out their season with tournament action, five Edison State Community College basketball players have been named recipients of post-season awards from the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) for the 2016-17 season.
Recently finishing out their season with tournament action, five Edison State Community College basketball players have been named recipients of post-season awards from the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) for the 2016-17 season.
Representing the women's team, Sydney Miller of Huntsville, Ohio, earned First Team All-OCCAC honors. Miller, a 5-foot-5-inch sophomore guard, averaged 15.9 points, 4.9 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1.3 steals per game in conference action. Last year as a freshman, Miller was named All-OCCAC Honorable Mention.
Carly Buzzard of Wapakoneta, Ohio, has been named to the All-OCCAC Honorable Mention Team. Buzzard, a 6-foot sophomore forward, averaged 12.3 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game in conference action.
On the men's team, Christopher Landrum, II of Boston, Mass., was named to the OCCAC All-Defensive Team. Landrum, a sophomore 6-foot-1-inch guard, averaged 9.7 points, 4.6 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 1.3 steals per game in conference action.
Dae'Shawn Jackson of Springfield, Ohio, and Hadith Tiggs, of Huber Heights, Ohio, were both named to the All-OCCAC Honorable Mention team. Jackson, a 6-foot-1-inch sophomore guard, averaged 16.4 points, 6 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game in conference action. Tiggs, a 6-foot-2-inch guard, averaged 15.9 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game in conference matchups.
The women's basketball team finished 20-11 overall and 8-8 in their conference. The men's basketball team finished 17-14 overall and 4-12 in their conference.
