The Ohio Community College Athletic Association (OCCAC) has named Edison State Community College freshman defensive specialist/libero Whitney Pleiman the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II Women's Volleyball Player of the Week on September 4, 2018.
Pleiman, of Russia, becomes the second consecutive Charger to earn the OCCAC weekly honor to start the 2018 season after Noel Ufferman did so for the opening slate of matches. Edison State improved to 8-0 overall by notching five victories over the last seven days, dropping just two sets total. Pleiman was a defensive monster, picking up an average of 7.88 digs per set. She exploded for 40 digs in a four-set triumph at Kellogg and came back the next day for 34 more digs as the Chargers bested No. 15 Mott in four frames.
Pleiman and the Lady Chargers will return to action at Clark State Community College on Saturday, September 8.
