Dan Cain, of Covington, will return to for his second season as head softball coach for Edison State Community College.

Cain brings numerous years of experience as a coach to Edison State’s softball program. Before joining the coaching staff at Edison State, Cain had a successful career coaching at the high school level, having only two losing seasons in his more than 25-year coaching career. 

Most recently, Cain was the head softball coach at Covington High School, where his teams earned numerous league titles, district titles, and made regional appearances. He also coached for Miami East, Northridge, Troy Christian, and Troy where he saw the same winning results. 

His coaching garnered him numerous coach of the year awards at Covington High School and Troy Christian High School, as well as, two Southwest District coach of the year awards. 

Cain plans to hold the Edison State softball team to the same high standards. “There’s no pressure to win during the first year, but I don’t like to lose,” added Cain. “I expect success and plan to compete right out of the shoot. I know there are athletes in the area that can make wins happen.” 

Outside of coaching, Cain works at Lord Corp. in Dayton where he’s been employed since 2001 and an active member of the Covington Church of The Brethren. He is married to wife, Mauriena, and together they have two daughters, Aubrye and Cassidy.
