Edison State Community College watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in an 8-4 loss to Wilmington College on Wednesday. Wilmington College scored on a single by Abigail Shinkle, a groundout by Makenna Montgomery, and a home run by Je'Taysia Jones in the second inning.
In the second inning, Wilmington College got their offense started when Shinkle singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.
Alexis Stringfellow pitched Wilmington College to victory. She went four innings, allowing two runs on zero hits and striking out three. Hannah Hall threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Alexis Romine took the loss for Edison State, allowing seven hits and seven runs over three and a third innings, striking out two.
Hallie Snyder came in for the Lady Chargers, allowing 1 run and going 3 and two thirds inning.
Edison State collected six hits. Mackenzie Smith and Alexis Romine all managed multiple hits for Edison State. Romine and Smith each collected two hits to lead Edison State.
Wilmington College racked up eight hits. Sarah Monnier and Jones all collected multiple hits for Wilmington College.
