Edison State Clinches Lead In Fifth Inning to Defeat OU–Chillicothe
Edison State Community College Chargers softball team nabbed the lead late in the game in a 9-3 victory over Ohio University - Chillicothe on Saturday.
The Edison State Community College Chargers softball team nabbed the lead late in the game in a 9-3 victory over Ohio University - Chillicothe on Saturday. The game was tied at three with Edison State batting in the top of the fifth when Wendy Hawk hit a solo homer.
Edison State secured the victory thanks to six runs in the fifth inning. The Lady Chargers put the pressure on, lead by triples by Alexis Romine, Hallie Snyder, and Rayna Brownlee, a single by Maddie White, a sac fly by Lexie Long, and a home run by Wendy Hawk.
Edison State fired up the offense in the first inning when Lexis Cooper threw a wild pitch allowing one run across the plate for Edison State.
Hallie Snyder was the winning pitcher for Edison State Community College Chargers Varsity. She lasted one and two-thirds innings, allowing four hits and one run while striking out two and walking one. Maddy Collier threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen. Collier recorded the last nine outs to earn the save for Edison State.
Cooper took the loss for Ohio University - Chillicothe. She allowed ten hits and nine runs over five innings, striking out one.
Alexis Romine started the game for Edison State, surrendering two runs on three hits over two and a third innings, striking out one.
The Lady Chargers hit one home run on the day. Wendy Hawk put one out in the fifth inning.
Edison State saw the ball well today, racking up 13 hits in the game. Lexie Long, Mackenzie Smith, Alexis Romine, and Adrianna Hicks all managed multiple hits for the Chargers. Lexie Long led Edison State with three hits in four at-bats. Edison State stole six bases during the game as two players stole more than one. Lexie Long led the way with three.
Ohio University - Chillicothe tallied eight hits on the day. Emily Spohn, Sadie Fox, and Cooper each racked up multiple hits for Ohio University - Chillicothe. Spohn went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Ohio University - Chillicothe in hits.
