Edison State Softball Splits Pre-Season Games
The Edison State Community College women's softball team defeated Heidelberg 4-0 but fell to Mt. St. Joseph's in a 2-1 loss.
The Edison State Community College softball team traveled to Tiffin University on Sunday, September 23rd to play two games with Heidelberg University and Mt. St. Joseph University from Cincinnati.
In game one, sophomore Lexi Romine (Greenon) threw a complete game no-hitter striking out ten batters on her way to a 4-0 defeat of Heidelberg. Sophomore Rayna Brownlee (Piqua), sophomore Lexie Long (Covington), and freshman Brooke Steinbrunner (Celina) all had two hits.
In game two, freshman Madi Collier (Triad) kept Mt. St. Joe's off balance through five innings before giving up two runs in a 2 to 1 loss. Lexi Romine had two hits and sophomore Victoria Smith (Bradford) had a double.
"For the day, we out-hit and out-pitched our opponents," said Head Softball Coach Dan Cain. "It was a solid day all the way around for the Lady Chargers."
The Edison State softball team travels to Ohio State University on Saturday for three more games, the first game starting at 10:30 a.m.
