Charger Softball Players Earn All-OCCAC Honors
Lexie Long and Justice Warner have been named postseason award recipients for the 2018 softball season.
Recently finishing out their inaugural season, two Edison State Community College softball players have been named recipients of post-season awards from the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) for the 2018 season.
Freshman infielder Lexie Long (Covington HS/Covington) and freshman outfielder Justice Warner (Covington HS/Covington) have been named to the 2018 All-OCCAC Team.
Long earned her first all-conference selection after batting .412 in conference action and .385 overall for the season to lead all Edison State starters in batting average. Long also had 12 stolen bases for the season.
"Lexie ended the season as our leading hitter as well as our leader in stolen bases," said Head Coach Dan Cain.
Warner also earned her first all-conference selection after hitting two home runs during the season and going .286 in 12 conference games.
"Justice became our best defender as our centerfielder and also one of our top hitters," said Cain. "Together, Lexie and Justice on base together can cause problems for our opponents; both are smart, aggressive base runners. As a coach, they gave me a lot of options."
The women's softball team finished 6-14 overall and 1-11 in their conference.
"After getting the initial year under our belt, next year looks to be an exciting year for us," added Cain. "The team will return a lot of talent, and we have had a good year recruiting. I would like to thank the school for their support this year, getting this program off the ground. I think the future will be exciting for our program."
