The Edison State Chargers honored their alumni during Charger Country Night on January 10, 2024, and they faced off against Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) rival Hocking College. The Chargers entered the night 7-7(3-1) against the Hocking Hawks from Nelsonville, Ohio. The game would go into half close, with the Chargers trailing 49-46. Led by scoring efforts from two-time OCCAC Player of the Week (POTW) this season, Caleb Iheukwu (Westerville North HS) and last week's POTW Daviyon McDonald (Dublin Jerome HS), the #1 and #2 scorers, respectively, Iheukwu posted 21 points and McDonald with 15.
The two POTW and scoring leaders were backed up by several other heavy scorers in a game in which both sides put up a lot of points. Jesse Dixon came in 3rd in points with 13, and 2 players tied with 12. (Full official stats not available at presstime subject to change).
Both teams were in heavy foul trouble at the half, and by the end of the game, the Chargers would battle but ultimately come up short in the final 95-90, dropping to 7-8 (3-2). The Chargers will see action on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at 1:00 p.m., versus Terra State, followed by Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at 7:30 p.m., against Owens Community College.
