The Edison State men hung close with number 1 nationally ranked Cuyahoga Community College on the road who maintain a 19-0 undefeated record. The Chargers traded leads on several occasions in the first half of play but trailed by 5 at the intermission. In the second period, the Chargers were unable to regain the lead but kept Tri-C within a 2 possession reach most of the second half. But with 8 minutes and change remaining, and the Chargers in foul trouble, Cuyahoga stretched their lead to 14 points. But the chargers were not ready to concede as they rallied a late-game surge with a bucket by JaBryel Reed and a 3 ball by Dakota Prichard pulling the chargers back to within 7 with just over a minute and a half to play. Unfortunately, the last minute of play was spent with Cuyahoga converting free throws to reassert their lead to a 67-53 victory.
JaBryel Reed (Clark Montessori HS) came off the bench to lead the Chargers in scoring with 15 points followed by Hadith Tiggs (Wayne HS) who scored 11.
Edison State moves to 13-7 on the year. The Chargers return to conference action next Wednesday night as they host Columbus State Community College at 7:30 p.m.
