The Edison State Community College men's basketball team won their fifth consecutive game of the season remaining undefeated by a score of 83 to 76 Wednesday evening over the Barons of Ohio State University at Lima.
The Chargers took an early but narrow lead and increased it to 13 by intermission. In the second period, the Chargers increased their lead by as much as 21 with 12 minutes left to play, but the scrappy defense and deep 3-point shooting of the Barons kept them on the comeback trail.
"They did some things defensively that caused our young team a lot of problems," remarked coach Hickman. "Hopefully this will open our eyes to the discipline needed going forward."
Hadith Tiggs (Wayne HS) led in the scoring column with 20 points, James Richardson, Jr. (Beechcroft HS) added nine on 3 treys and Romello Yaqub (Troy HS), Caleb Maggard (Oak Hill HS–Marion, IN) and Jacob Rogan (Bellefontaine HS) all added 8 points for the evening.
Edison State moves to 5-0 to start the 2017-18 campaign. Next up, the Chargers will be on the road to take on Clark State Community College in a conference matchup on Saturday, November 18 at 3:00 p.m.
