After defeating Sinclair Community College last Saturday 79-54, the Edison State men's basketball team ends their season tonight in the district tournament by losing to the Tartans by 13 points 91-78.
It was an evenly played contest in the first 10 minutes of play, but by the intermission, the Tartans had taken an 11 point advantage. The inside play of Sinclair's two 6-foot-8-inch and 6-foot-10-inch posts took their toll on the Chargers as Akiean Fredricks and LiDonta Hick-Gentry produced more than half of the Tartans points with 48 points between the two.
"We were able to hold them to just 14 points on Saturday, but tonight they hit their shots," said coach Hickman.
The Tartans as a team shot 54.9% on the evening while the Chargers were at 40%.
Sometimes it just comes down to who has the hot hand and tonight it was Sinclair," commented coach Hickman. The Chargers finish the 2016-17 campaign with a winning record at 17-14.
Hadith Tiggs (Wayne HS) and Dae'Shawn Jackson (Springfield HS) scored 23 points each to lead the Chargers in scoring. Romello Yaqub (Troy HS) added 13 points and led the Chargers in the assist column with 5.
