Three New Students commit to play baseball at Edison State
Austin Davis (Piqua), Cory Cottrel (Piqua) and James Ganion (Huber Heights) commit to play Baseball with Edison State Community College.
Three new students commit to play baseball at Edison State Community College beginning in the fall of 2018.
Austin Davis is a graduate of Piqua High School and a 3rd basemen and star quarterback for the Piqua Indians. He will be furthering his education at Edison State as a Sports Management major. Davis was a four-year starter for the Piqua Indians with 21 hits and a .229 BA his senior year. "Austin is a natural born leader, in between the lines on the gridiron and on the diamond," says Head Baseball Coach Tyler Koch. "I am looking forward to seeing those qualities translate to the collegiate level."
Cory Cottrel is also a Piqua High School graduate who is working toward an associate degree in science at Edison State. Cottrel is an outfielder and has a .301 BA and 12 stolen bases last season. "Cory is one of the fastest outfielders I've seen," states Coach Koch. "His speed along with his quality stick will be a great addition to the Chargers this spring."
James Ganion, from Wayne High School in Huber Heights, is our most recent addition to the team. As a senior, Ganion, a right-handed pitcher, had 21 strikeouts in 16 innings. Ganion will be majoring in Electrical Engineering at Edison State. Coach Koch commented, "James has a very, very high ceiling with excellent command of three pitches. We couldn't be happier that he chose Edison State."
