Charger Baseball Players Earn All-OCCAC Honors
Marcus Johnson and Jake Clements have been named postseason award recipients for the 2018 baseball season.
Recently finishing out their season with a tournament appearance, two Edison State Community College baseball players have been named recipients of post-season awards from the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) for the 2018 season.
Sophomore pitcher Marcus Johnson (Bryan Station HS/Lexington, KY) and freshman catcher Jake Clements (Loveland HS/Loveland) have been named to the 2018 All-OCCAC Second Team.
Johnson, a left-handed pitcher, finished the season with a conference ERA of 3.77 and 31 innings pitched with 38 k's allowing just 21 hits with 5 conference starts. As a sophomore, Johnson will leave Edison State as the career and single-season strikeout leader as well as innings pitched. Overall for the season, Marcus threw 58 IP with 77k's, 42 hits, 21 bb, and 3.10 ERA.
Clements, a freshman outfielder/catcher, hit .277 and had 7 SB in conference play. Overall, Clements hit .284, with a .397 OBP. He had 14 SB's on the year which ties him for the single-season record at Edison State.
