The Edison State Community College baseball program is proud to announce that Tyler Shamblin (M/INF) and Zach Kirby (C/P) will continue their collegiate baseball careers at 4-year universities in the upcoming season.
Tyler Shamblin, of Bellefontaine, has committed to Oakland City University, a NCAA Division II college located in Oakland City, Indiana following a successful career at Edison State.
During his time at Edison State, Shamblin earned a .428 batting average with 44 RBI and 8 home runs, leading his team with 4 last season alone. Shamblin also maintained a .775 fielding percentage over the course of his career and earned Player of the Week honors from the OCCAC.
"We couldn't be happier for Tyler," said Head Baseball Coach Scott Jones. "He has outstanding character, shows up every day, and gives you everything he has. He's the kind of kid you hate to see leave the program, we would take 10 of him if we could. We wish him the best in his career."
Zachary Kirby, of Dayton, has committed to play next season for Wright State University-Lake Campus. Zach was a starting catcher last season earning a .986 fielding percentage. Kirby also saw some time on the mound.
"Zach is another strong character kid with a good arm. He is a bulldog behind the plate and a guy who shows up every day," said Jones. "With his arm strength, it is unclear yet as to whether his future is behind the dish or on the hill. Whatever path Zach's career takes, we are sure that he will be a solid contributor to the WSU-Lake baseball program."
