Hughes and McDonald Named OCCAC Basketball Players of the Week

The Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) has named Edison State Community College freshman Allison Hughes (Parkway HS) and freshman Daviyon McDonald (Dublin Jerome HS) OCCAC Basketball Players of the Week for January 15-21, 2024. 

Hughes has now been honored by the conference in three straight months. She was dominant in an 81-59 victory over Owens, nearly matching her 22 points with 18 rebounds (11 offensive!). The freshman forward added two assists and two blocks alongside zero turnovers in 28 minutes played. 

McDonald, receiving his second award for the 2023-2024 season, put up 23 points, 16 rebounds, three assists, a steal, and a block in the Chargers' 76-63 win over Owens. He converted on 10-of-19 field goal attempts and crashed the boards, with six of his 16 rebounds coming on the offensive glass. 

The Lady Chargers are currently 16-3 overall and 5-0 in the conference. The men's team is 9-8 overall and 5-2 in conference play.
