Thirty-Three Student-Athletes Named to OCCAC All-Academic Team
Thirty-three student-athletes from Edison State Community College have received Academic All-Conference honors from the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) for the Fall 2023 semester. To qualify, a student-athlete must have completed at least 12 credit hours with a 3.30 GPA.

"Our student-athletes continue to show focus and resiliency in their academic pursuits," said Justin McCulla, Director of Athletics. "Commitment, determination, and dedication are words we talk about around the teams, and we're proud of their strong focus in the classroom as each student-athlete prepares for their future every day. While academic success earned them a spot on the OCCAC All-Academic Team, it's important to note that among the best students in the classroom are our best student-athletes."
Representing the men's basketball team in academic excellence are Devonte Curry, Columbus, and Mouhamed Sidibe, West Alexander, Pennsylvania.
Eight members of the women's basketball team earned honors: Raegan Beverly (4.0 GPA), Owensville; Aminata Dicko (4.0 GPA), Columbus; Dana Evans (4.0 GPA), Batavia; Allison Hughes, Rockford; Paxton Hunley, Conover; Lydia Kimmel, Columbus; Ania Pearson, Lima; and Taj Pewett, Cincinnati.
Members of the women's volleyball team earning honors include Heidi Anderson, Miamisburg; Brooklyn Bourne (4.0 GPA), Celina; Abigail Jenkins (4.0 GPA), Bellefontaine; Carsyn Meckstroth, Piqua; and Mackenzie Singer (4.0 GPA), New Weston.
The baseball team is represented in academic excellence by Brock Adams, Hamilton; Luke Brockman (4.0 GPA), Southgate, Kentucky; Caleb Lambdin, Cincinnati; Bladin Malone, Shelbyville, Kentucky; Austin Montz (4.0 GPA), Centerville; Ben Randall (4.0 GPA), Land O' Lakes, Florida; and Troy Taylor, Tipp City.
Kaycie Albers (4.0 GPA), Minster; Alison Cox, North Lewisburg; Allison Davis, Lawrenceburg, Indiana; Audrey Fyffe (4.0 GPA), Springfield; Erika Gostomsky, Covington; Kaela May, Tipp City; Elise McCann (4.0 GPA), Troy; Alli Milanese, Sidney; Kyah Moore, Belle Center; Maliyah Simpson, Springfield; and Jaycee Taylor, Hamilton, represent the softball team in academic excellence.
"I'm struck by how impressive our student-athletes are here," McCulla said. "Whether through teamwork on the field, the court, or in the classrooms, our student-athletes are working together every day to reach new levels of achievement. In addition to the 33 student-athletes receiving OCCAC All-Academic honors, we had three teams earn a 3.20 GPA or higher as a team."
Edison State Community College is one of 13 participating members of the OCCAC. The College also competes in Region XII as a Division II member of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) in men's baseball and women's softball, men's and women's basketball, and women's volleyball.
