Twelve Student-Athletes Named to NJCAA All-Academic Teams
Twelve student-athletes from Edison State Community College have been named to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) 2021-22 All-Academic Teams. To qualify for First Team, a student-athlete must have a 4.0 GPA; to qualify for Second Team, a 3.8–3.99 GPA is required; to qualify for Third Team, a student-athlete must have a 3.6–3.79 GPA.

"I'm so proud of these student-athletes," said Nate Cole, Director of Athletics at Edison State. "Their academic achievements have been outstanding and are a direct reflection of their hard work and Edison State's dedication to not only win and have successful athletic teams but also to academics first, athletics second. We take great pride in our academic support process, with tutors, grade checks, study tables, attendance checks, and fantastic support and communication with our faculty and staff."
The baseball team is represented in academic excellence by Jared Billington, Tipp City, who was named to the Third Team.
From the softball team, Morgan Pine, St. Paris, and Sidney Unger, Tipp City, were named to the Second Team. Six members were named to the Third Team: Layne Claudy, Greenville; Taylor Collins, Union City; Allie Dodge, Huber Heights; Kayla Runyon, Tipp City; Savannah Wead, Tipp City; and Breana Wiget, Springboro.
Kailah Johnson, Holland; Rylie McIver, Sidney; and Kierra Wendel, Fort Recovery, represent the women's basketball team on the Second Team.
Edison State's athletic teams compete in the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) and are Division II members of the NJCAA. For more information, visit athletics.edisonohio.edu.
