Twenty-Four Student-Athletes Named to OCCAC All-Academic Team
Twenty-four student-athletes from Edison State have received Academic All-Conference honors from the OCCAC for Spring 2019 semester.
Twenty-four student-athletes from Edison State Community College have received Academic All-Conference honors from the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) for Spring 2019 semester. To qualify, a student-athlete must have completed at least 12 credit hours with a 3.30 GPA.
"Performing well on the court or field and in the classroom is not an easy task, but this group proved they were up to the challenge. I congratulate each of them," said Nate Cole, Athletic Director at Edison State.
Members of the women's volleyball team earning honors include Leah Herdman of Springfield (4.0 GPA) and Whitney Pleiman of Russia.
Earning honors from the men's basketball team is Jaedyn Carter of Columbus.
Nine members of the women's basketball team earned honors, including Lauryn Gray of Piqua, Brogan McIver of Sidney (4.0 GPA), Rebekah New of Houston (4.0 GPA), Sarah Pothast of Wapakoneta, Emily Powell of Piqua, Kennadie Reese of Jackson Center, Marin Reis of Centerville (4.0 GPA), Clair Schmitmeyer of Versailles, and Kayla Tullis of Urbana (4.0 GPA).
Jacob Clements of Loveland (4.0 GPA), Cooper Denney of Kettering, Chase Humphrey of Cable (4.0 GPA), Casey Jones of Brookville, Joey Pryor of Englewood, Dylan Welch of Vandalia, and Kolby Wooten of Springfield represent the baseball team in academic excellence.
The softball team was represented in academic excellence by Chelsea Gill of St Marys, Wendy Hawk of Washington Court House (4.0 GPA), Sophia Mueller of Piqua, Alexis Romine of Enon, Victoria Smith of Bradford, Hallie Snyder of Troy, Maddison Weaver of Springfield, and Madison White of Sidney.
Edison State Community College is one of thirteen participating members of the OCCAC. The college also competes in Region XII as a Division II member of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) in men's baseball and women's softball, men's and women's basketball, and women's volleyball.
